Movie Review: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation

This movie known for having the reputation of being one of the worst movies ever...but somehow, I found this actually watchable. Trust me, I've seen worst crap than this. And some people need to know that certain horror films aren't meant to be taken seriously. What I liked most about this movie is that it reminds of one of those over-the-top B-movies from the 90's I used to watch as a kid. Although it is a bad movie, it was quite an interesting watch.
Here's the story: Just a typical slasher movie plot. Two couples on prom night suddenly find themselves stranded after a terrible car accident. Though not for long, they soon become prey to leatherface and his canalblistic clan.
Renee Zellweger was at first a bit shaky, almost blending in with the other bad actors but halfway through the movie she surprised me with this powerhouse performance, playing a young woman that is literally trying to fight to survive. Matthew Mcconaughey was very chilling and would i like to call it 'creepy-sexy'. He actually made you believe he was a psycho killer, which makes him a good actor til this day. Toni Perensky is charming as the ditzy Darla. Her performance was so funny and endearing, you almost forget that she's in cahoots with a bunch of psychos. The rest of the cast aren't that great. They're just plain bad compared to Renee, Matthew, and Toni. But one thing I would like to point is the torture they put through on poor Heather. She might be an annoying ditz, but she didn't deserve the treatment that she endured.
Although there is no suspense to be found in this film, the one scene where Renee was walking through the deep dark forest was pretty intense. You would never know when Leatherface would pop out with his chainsaw.
Like I said the story is simple and clichéd. If you watched any other teen horror film, you would know the story by now.
Ok I will agree with most people that this movie is shit, but we have to understand that some horror films aren't meant to be taken seriously and this is one of the them.
My last word: bizarre, Outrageous, and Darkly Funny. This is the ultimate popcorn flick....good or bad.
